cmluciano: so we have been fighting that issue with the repo and it's boiling down to a simple attr override that does not seem to be working in j^2 multi case.   in the env, openstack -> mq -> user = admin, since this used in the common attr file, it will be done at compile time.  tried this in Common default recipe:

Chef::Log.info("MQ Info #{PP.pp(node['openstack']['mq'], '')}")

And you don't need to wait long as this is the first line to pop out in the logs after the Compile phase starts.  Can you give that a try?
